Free Picks: Injury Updates: Sports News: Draft Kings/Fan Duel

The Final Four is finally here, and it is exactly as you expected, right? The top-ranked remaining seed, No. 4 seed, Connecticut Huskies are five-point favorites against the No, 5. seed, Miami Hurricanes. The two teams close out the first day of the Final Four, with a 7:49 PM start.
The opening game tips off at 5:09 PM between No. 5 seed San Diego State University and No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic University. SDSU is a -2.5-point favorite.
The most intriguing line in each game is the over, while both SDSU and FAU are above-average defensive teams, a total of 131.5 is lower than expected and feels like a gimmie. Both teams can shoot and are prone to turning the ball over, opening up transition opportunities for the opponent.

Draft Kings/Fan Duel Spotlight
No-brainer:
With no Paul George and a full game’s rest, Kawhi Leonard is a no-brainer pick. Near the top in salary in both FanDuel and Draft Kings, he is worth it. You cannot afford to not play Kawhi on a day with only two NBA games. With Leonard sitting in the Clippers’ last game, we would expect a lot of minutes tonight.
Low-hanging fruit:
Trey Murphy III really loves playing against the L.A. Clippers. Murphy is averaging 25 points per game against the Clippers. 12 more than his season average. The Pelicans will host L.A. Saturday night. Murphy has stepped up as of late, scoring 20 per game, and shooting 48% from the three-point line over his last ten games. During that same span, he is shooting an insane 97% from the free-throw line. On a day with a small slate, there is huge value in Murphy.

News:
MLB:
Opening Day hit and the league’s rule changes seem to show a league that is now, finally invested in moving the game into modern times. The stubbornness and seemingly downright refusal to do anything to adjust the “old” pastime may now be the days of old. Major League Baseball has the most captive audience of any major sport. The prime portion of the MLB season overlaps with no one. As the NHL and NBA are winding down, MLB is tuning up. When the baseball playoffs are in full swing no other major sport is active. Therefore MLB did not need to make changes for years. Things have changed…
The league has seen a loss in attendance, revenue, and fan sentiment for years, coupled with an explosion in player salaries. Riding the high of the World Baseball Classic, MLB implemented the following things, which should help grow the sport, and reach younger viewers.
Rule changes - designed to speed up the game.

The current odds for the next World Series Champion
NBA:
The NBA MVP race is heating up. In a two-man race between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, Jokic sat Friday, 3/31 while the Denver Nuggets took on the Phoenix Suns on the road. Jokic may look back realizing he needed this game to repeat and win his third consecutive MVP award. Embiid is the current favorite despite missing fourteen games this season.
After another comeback attempt, LaMarcus Aldridge appears to have hung them up for good. Aldridge retires with career numbers of 19/8/2. After a seventeen-year career, Aldridge retires as the No. 46 all-time scorer in NBA history.
The Minnesota Timberwolves were getting hot at the right time, aided by the return of Karl Anthony Towns. As luck would have it, the team was ravaged by an illness which has hit almost every member of the team. Added to this is a massive loss in Naz Reid. On Wednesday, Reid suffered a broken wrist which is sure to end his season. The loss of Naz is difficult to measure until we see a healthy Wolves team, but it is certain to have a big impact on the team, and its depth.
The Los Angeles Lakers are hotter than bacon grease and now sit in the seventh spot in the Western Conference. Last night’s win was their second straight with Lebron James back in the lineup. The emergence of Austin Reaves has paced the Lakers over the last two weeks. More importantly, Anthony Davis was the Davis of old. Dominant and resiliant. In his best efforts to shed the paper tag, Davis went down in what looked to be a horrible injury when his ankle moved in ways only Usher should. Davis would return to the game shortly thereafter and was even more dominant. L. A. is still low-hanging fruit for bettors.

NFL:
Checking in on Aaron Rodgers, and yep - still nothing. The Packers nor the Jets seem to be in any hurry to get a deal done. As we move closer to the NFL draft, which is one month away, we may see some action, but I would not expect much until then.
One of Aaron’s potential targets, Odell Beckham Jr. is said to be seeking $15 million dollars annually. Reaching that number with his age and recent injury history is unlikely, however, there are still many suitors for OBJ.
Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has offers on the table from multiple teams, per @DanGrazianoESPN:

Man Down
On Opening Day every team wants to put one in the win column. A loss is not ideal, but the world won’t end. A loss of your ace in the first game could be catastrophic. Atlanta Braves starter, Max Fried left Thursday’s opener with hamstring discomfort. Max will miss at least one start and is likely headed to the injured list. The Braves are already missing Kyle Wright, last year’s National League wins leader. Luckily Atlanta is one of the deeper teams in the league. Provided there are no setbacks, both hurlers are expected back within a month or less.
MLB:
Willson Contreras: (knee) is listed as “day-to-day.”
Bryce Harper: (elbow) The Phillies, very optimistically placed Harper on the 10-day injured list, as opposed to the 60-day list.
Luis Urias: (hamstring) is likely headed to the injured list. An update is expected by the end of the weekend.
Jose Altuve: (thumb) The Astros are optimistic - Altuve is said to be ready to play in May. This a promising update considering some thought he may not be back until late June.
Rhys Hoskins: (ACL) Hoskins underwent a successful surgery on Opening Day, after tearing his ACL last week. He is out for the season.
Joey Votto: (rotator cuff) Votto will start a AAA rehab assignment in preparation to return to the Major League level. The timetable for his return is currently unclear.
NBA:
AL Horford: (back) is listed as “OUT.”
Jarrett Allen: (groin) is listed as “OUT.”
Nikola Jokic: (calf) is listed as “OUT.”
Kawhi Leonard: (rest) will suit up and play 4/1, after sitting Friday.
Bam Adebayo: (hip contusion) is listed as “questionable.”
Zion Williamson: (hamstring) cleared for on-court activities. 2-3weeks.
Gary Trent Jr. (Achilles) is listed as “OUT.”
Damian Lillard: (calf) shut down for the remainder of the season.
Lauri Markkanen: (hand) is listed as “OUT.”
Bradley Beal: (knee) is listed as “OUT.”
