Free Picks: Injury Updates: Sports News: Draft Kings/Fan Duel

Powered by MyBookie.com

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The no. 2 seed, Arizona falls on day one. No. 4 seed, Virginia loses at the buzzer and Friday provided its fair share of excitement as well!

For only the second time in NCAA Men’s basketball tournament history, a No. 16 seed beat a No. 1 seed. Purdue, a favorite to cut down the nets, takes the flight of shame back to West Lafayette after losing to Fair Dickinson University in a thriller.

As of right now, the odds to win it all are:

  • Alabama: +500

  • Houston: +500

  • UCLA: +1000

  • Gonzaga: +1100

  • Texas: +1200

  • Kansas: +1200

  • Duke: +1200

  • Connecticut: +1400

  • Marquette: +2000

Draft Kings/Fan Duel Spotlight

No-brainer:

Paul George: A top-tier player that won’t break the bank. Over his last ten games, PG is averaging 25/6/5, and more importantly, playing regular minutes. George has connected for twelve three-point field goals over his last four games, averaging 39 minutes of floor time during that span. He won’t be the cheapest, but there are many players priced higher with less production and consistency. Kawhi Leonard is not expected to play on Saturday, 3/18, making George that much more appealing.

Low-hanging fruit:

Evan Mobley: Despite superstar quality and the numbers to support that, on a day of full-slate games, Mobley rarely cracks the top 10% in salary expense at the Center position. Mobley’s post-All-Star game production is outpacing his cost on Draft Kings and Fan Duel. While this does not help you until the Cavaliers’ next game on Tuesday against Brooklyn, it is sure to be a high-scoring game, and Mobley will get off.

News

NBA:

The Memphis Grizzlies will continue to play without Ja Morant. Something they have survived, but won’t thrive in. Ja is out for a total of eight games while he pursues treatment. While timing for this kind of thing is never ideal, Memphis and Ja should be grateful this is happening during the regular season and not the postseason - allowing time to heal, re-gel, and get back to a level of normalcy before the playoffs.

NBA: Michael Jordan is engaged in talks to sell the Charlotte Hornets. The expectation is roughly $1.5 billion should His Airness reach an agreement.

NFL: When you’re a Jet, you’re a Jet all the way. Oddly, Aaron Rodgers has actually put more pressure on a different team than his own, for a change. The Jets would seem to lose leverage with Aaron Rodgers’ very public announcement of his desire to play for the New York Jets. There is one issue. Rodgers does not get to pick where he is traded. An even bigger issue is the Jets must work out an appealing trade package for the four-time MVP. Green Bay has all the leverage.

Man Down

NBA: The Golden State Warriors have an away issue. Entering the weekend, the Dubs have traded twenty-seven road losses for only seven road wins. The defending champions cannot rely on Steph Curry and Klay Thompson to break their own records every game. They need defense. It is rumored that Andrew Wiggins is unlikely to return this season, which would be detrimental for the Warriors. Not only because of his offensive output but his defensive prowess. As of now, nothing is confirmed, but it is not looking great.

  • Zion Williamson: (hamstring) “Hope to be back before playoffs.”

  • Kyrie Irving: (foot) is listed as “active” and played on 3/17

  • Luka Doncic: (thigh) is Listed as “OUT.”

  • Tyrese Haliburton: (ankle) is “OUT.” He has not played since 3/9.

  • Kevin Huerter: (hamstring) is listed as “day-to-day.”

  • Lebron James: (foot) is listed as “OUT” but has resumed shooting.

  • Kyle Lowry: (knee) is listed as “day-to-day.”

  • Anthony Edwards: (ankle) is listed as “day-to-day.”

  • Kawhi Leonard: (knee - injury management) is listed as “OUT.”

  • Deandre Ayton: (groin) is listed as ‘day-to-day.”
