Draft Kings/Fan Duel Spotlight

Low-hanging fruit:

Nolan Gorman of the St. Louis Cardinals still strikes out more than you would like, but he is also going to the opposite field, and when he hits the ball, he hits it extremely hard. He is reasonably priced in both DK and FanDuel.

News:

MLB:

The Tampa Rays saw their franchise-best thirteen-game winning streak come to a close last night in Toronto. Despite a world-beater of a start to the season, the Rays still garner minimal respect from oddsmakers.

Current odds to win the World Series:

It’s way too early to start considering individual regular-season awards. Unless we’re discussing Jordan Walker as the National League Rookie of the Year, which barring injury or a major setback seems to be inevitable. Within the next thirty days, MVP talk will start to heat up. More so of the who have fallen off variety.

American League MVP odds:

NBA:

The field is set and while there are many storylines to cover, for the sake of brevity, we will give you one note per team.

  • Milwaukee Bucks: The best regular season team is healthier than they have been all season, this alone should terrify opponents.

  • Boston Celtics: Minus a few games, Jayson Tatum has yet to show he can match his playoff performance to his regular season output. With a looming Jaylen Brown decision for the Celtics, this postseason may be more important for Boston than any of us know.

  • Philadelphia 76ers: The likely MVP, Joel Embiid will have a rested Tyrese Maxey. Maxey is the most important part of the Sixers’ potential title run.

  • Cleveland Cavaliers: The most underrated big 3 in the NBA are Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley. If they stay out of foul trouble, they can beat anyone.

  • New York Knicks: The Knicks managed to win games without an injured Jalen Brunson, With their entire core healthy, the Knicks can make some noise.

  • Brooklyn Nets: The Nets are better without KD and Kyrie? Maybe. Mikal Bridges has to continue to play like Kobe Bryant if they have a chance, but I suppose anything is possible.

  • Atlanta Hawks: The most consistently inconsistent team in the postseason the Hawks, cannot trade even road and home wins as they did in the regular season, since they do not have a homecourt advantage. They have to win on the road.

  • Miami Heat: What a difference a year makes. The Heat were the first seed last year, and now barely crept in this season. There is minimal pressure, but maximum competition in Milwaukee. This is a very tough draw for Miami.

  • Denver Nuggets: The Nuggets sat most of their team the last week and a half of the regular season in preparation for the postseason. While this will make them fresher, conditioning could be an issue.

  • Memphis Grizzlies: No Steven Adams will be an issue. Matching up against the Lakers - a team that is one of the best since the trade deadline is not ideal.

  • Sacramento Kings: No one seems prepared to give the Kings their proper due. I assume the Kings prefer it that way. De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are what makes it go, but rookie Keegan Murray’s outside shooting will be the deciding piece one way or another.

  • Phoenix Suns: This is the best No. 4 seed that has ever existed. Had it not been for Devin Booker’s injury early in the season, it is likely they would be a top-two seed.

  • Los Angeles Clippers: If Kawhi Leonard is his standard playoff-dominant self and Paul George can return, as his non-standard playoff (P) self, the Clippers can beat anyone.

  • Golden State Warriors: The defending champions are still just that. The champs. A returning Andrew Wiggins will help seal a leaky defense, but the Warriors have to figure out how to win away from home, or there will be no repeat.

  • Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, and now with a rested Lebron James having a worthy supporting cast, they are dangerous.

  • Minnesota Timberwolves: The Wolves showed you what they are capable of last night, after dismantling Oklahoma City. Surprisingly, Kyle Anderson was the best player on the court. Ultimately, injuries to Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels may be too much to overcome.

Current odds to win the NBA Championship:

NHL:

There are only three teams we like to win the Cup. Those teams are the Boston Bruins, Boston Bruins, and Boston Bruins. Kidding, but kind of not. The Edmonton Oilers are our favorite value pick to win it all, given the odds. The Colorado Avalanche also have what it takes to roster-wise to repeat.
